Buraskorn Torut

Dear n' Nammon,

We wouldn't have met at all if it wasn't for my decision to spend my summer of 2004 at Brewster as a TA for TS (Thai Scholars) 47. I'm glad I did. That summer was a blast and it wouldn't be if you weren't my roommate. I remembered one day Kom and I wanted to make แหนม (the fermented pork with chillies and garlic) and you helped us find a kitchen at Chris's apartment. We then sneaked out to chill by the lake at night risking our lives with our first attempt of the food that could give us stomachache. You tried the food we made without hesitation. I don't know if it was because you like it or because you don't want to hurt my feeling :P.

We didn't get in touch much after that summer. Although I did get to follow up your life from n'Mock personal photo gallery (which I receive a notification of update on my email). I would flip through those hiking albums seeing glimpse of  you in the pictures with happy faces enjoying the hike with n'Mock and other friends. When I saw on n'Mock's Facebook status that you earned your Ph.D. degree I thought now I would finally get to meet you whenever TS 43 has a get together in Thailand.

But then I was heartbroken. The news came as a shock for me. From looking at n'Mock's pictures I thought your life was already safe from cancer. I thought you were back on your strong feet, healthy, and working happily on your dissertation. I never realized you were going through difficult times. But yet you fight well and you finally win a big reward by finishing the most honorable degree (and in hardest subject too!) for yourself, your parents, and for our country.

You are truly and inspirational person. You are a great example of Thai Scholar for nong nong (younger) and p'p' (older) TS like me. You were a great TA for so many of the Thai Scholars. Your love of working at Brewster for nong nong were meaningful and inspirational. I can see why you are loved by all of the younger Thai Scholars at USA. You helped nong nong throughout even after you left Brewster that summer. Your life also inspired me dearly especially this time. Every time I started to sit on my lazy bun, I thought of your courage strength and I started to get back to work again.

Thank you so much for a great time together na ka Dr. Nammon. :)  I am very fortunate for getting to know a great person like you in this life.  Rest in peace na ka Dr. You will be the most gorgeous compassionate angel in the heaven and always in my heart.

หลับให้สบายนะค่ะด๊อกเตอร์ :) น้องสาวคนนี้จะอยู่ในความทรงจำของพี่เสมอค่ะ
