Like all other TS43, I couldn't tell Nammon and another girl, Sang, apart at first. But even real birth twins have their uniqueness, so I learned to differentiate them after some time.
Nammon loved ice cream so much. I rememer she once had a hard time deciding if she should buy a pair of $5 shorts, but then rushed to buy an ice cream bucket of the same price without hesitation.
I haven't seen Nammon for a long time, probably since we started grad schools. I ran into her from time to time in Boston during the undergrad years. The last time I saw was at DSW Downtown Crossing as I went shoe shopping with Keiko and Pinn, and Nammon just walked in with Chris Brown. Before that, I did see her when I went up to Dartmouth when my band went to play in the football game there. We sat in the cold and talked through the whole game. We were so engaged in our conversations. I can't remember what we talked about, but I remember thinking Nammon had really good times at Dartmouth and she was happy there.
Ever since I heard the news that she's got cancer, I've always admired her courage and strength to fight on. I don't know if I would have been as courageous if I were her.
I think Nammon lived her life to the fullest. She's loved by so many people. Whenever I meet younger Thai scholars, I always tell them I am a TS in Nammon's year because everyone knows her. And I will always be proud to do so.
